There has been talk within Church circles for some ten years or more about the prospect of Great Britain splitting away from Scandinavia to form our own Eparhija, with a resident bishop being responsible directly to Belgrade. To date no formal undertakings have been made but with the recent appointment of the new Patriarch Irinej rumours have strengthened that such a move may be imminent. Ever since Great Britain and Scandinavia were separated from the Western European Eparhija I suppose a further consolidation has been a natural future step. Having said that, for this November’s (2010) Sabor Srpske Pravoslavne Crkve the subject was not even on the agenda.

So you can imagine my surprise when I bought my new church “Kalendar” for 2011 to discover that no Scandinavian priests have been included in the contact list. Maybe somebody knows something that we don’t. There is no doubt in my mind that a smaller Eparhija means better organisation and sense of direction as well as access to the bishop. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this issue, so please complete the “Great Britić Census” and let us know what you think.
